If you never had formal training in typing or formatting, the only 
importance it getting your message to someone on their phone.  IDK, 
seems, FWIW many abbreviations are understood.

i do take some shortcuts but I learned to type and have written many 
business letters over the years so I tend to stay a bit more formal.
