So do I.

In my case, it relieves the physical stress of doing endless stuff in 
the house all by myself. The house work here has gone to a level that 
allows some psychological stress build as well. When I kick morons' ass 
in COLA or other usenet groups, not only mental stress diminishes, but 
physical stress also seem to go away faster cause the two are in some 
way (and to some extent) interconnected.

In other words, I use COLA for my dick; i.e., my dick uses COLA :)

COLA serves that purpose well. But what about the time spent. I lose a 
bit of time of my day that way, but I've gained time elsewhere reducing 
frequency of my walking. The housework is itself some mighty exercise. 
Very crude of course and oftentimes repetitive (source of psychological 
stress), but at least provides part of the cardiovascular benefit of 
better exercises.

I do pilates too, twice a day, to complete my day's exercise needs. And 
of course there's long walking too, a few times a week.

So I don't think, and haven't thought for a few years now, that my time 
spent on usenet has created a waste of my time. It is overall positive.
