Yes, last time I added the ham to the pot at the start and will do so 
again.  The meat practically melds into the soup and imparts a lot of 
flavor.  So I'll do that again.

I remember buying a bag of Hambeens 15-bean soup about 30 years ago and 
it was good.  But for some reason I never bought it again until this 
year, after you had mentioned it a few times.  I'm still wondering why I 
waited so long to buy it again, because it's so very easy and so very 
tasty!  I cook it in the crock pot. Turned out beautifully the last time 
so I'll cook it that way again.  And before anyone (Mike?) gets anxious, 
no, I do not turn on the crock pot and leave it unattended for hours. 
No worries about catching the house on fire. :)
