Absolutely - free country and all that. (Or perhaps they've been bitten by Y.) But people who choose to use newsreaders that can't handle printable ASCII non-destructively cannot reasonably expect software developers to amend their code as a workaround. I would reason that it's the people with the problem who need to own and address their problem.
