I'd think that "lived experience" connotes an experience that's befallen 
one over time, rather than, say, a brief experience purposely sought.

Let's not trash useful expressions for the sake of ridicule.

'Six feet' may have been "made up" with respect to 'five feet' or 'seven 
feet' but not with respect to 'one foot' or 'exchanging spit'.  It's the 
distance most people can easily fathom...
