Hi!

Are there people here who have an opinion about the developing debate
on yt about the supposed crisis in physics/science according to certain
'science outreach' channels like Sabine Hossenfelder?

Since youtube comments are generally unsuitable for an open discussion
(people can just delete your comments as they please, so there is no
freedom of expression whatsoever and you can't link to outside sources
because tech tyrants like google haven't figured out how to filter out
spam, so they simply block just about all links in comments), I was
thinking about hearing how people here feel about this topic.

Personally I'm a bit ambivalent about the issue. Generally I like
science and I think science has replaced religion as the ultimate
authority in society and that's for the better. Although science
is a kind of mixed blessing with associated problems like pollution,
climate change, etc...
It's a bit questionable whether it's fair to attribute such global
problems to science, since generally speaking we might as well blame it
on our human herd mentality and mass stupidity, but in the context
of certain technological capabilities, such tendencies can potentially
have a bigger negative impact.

In general I'm hopeful for the future if we manage to develop AI to the
point where it is able to debug our conceptual framework to enable
humans to use their brain more effectively and unify mankind to
optimize society so there is more economic equality and opportunities
for everyone to enjoy human rights, like freedom of expression, etc..

We have such amazing technology at our disposal these days, even basic
stuff like the internet could really take things like access to culture
and education to the next level if we eliminate the intellectual
property mafia. All numbers belong to the public domain and it's kind of
mind blowing that a number can be just about anything in the digital
realm (movie, picture, book, app, music, etc...)
