Those numbers change by the quarter hour as Texas has 300+ gas turbines
that run on natural gas (preferred) or diesel (weather curtailment) that
are started if needed. Some of the gas turbines requires 6 minutes to
start (GE LM-6000), 22 minutes to start (GE Frame 7), or 4 hours to
start (GE Frame 9). Just two weeks ago, the fossil fuels provided
60,000+ MW out of 80,000+ MW demand as the solar power and wind turbines
failed to provide much power in the extreme weather conditions.

Various entities throughout Texas are in the process of adding over 200
new gas turbines that run on either natural gas or diesel. No matter
what the fuel source is, Texas is striving to serve our population with
the most reliable and cost effective electricity possible, This can be
seen as many entities are moving to Texas to take advantage of both of
these priorities.
