Failure to link object files created by a C compiler is very much a C problem eg in some cases though maybe not this it may be down to missing "extern" keywords in certain C source files. Either way it means the compiler has not created the correct object files from the source. It's hard to debug code that you can't see. In other news - the lack of electrons in the battery of a car thats failing to start are nothing to do with the car and hence not a maintenance issue.
