New companion has that Tegan "just get me home, I need to catch my flight" vibe, acknowledgment of the actor's link to Boom, more Mel Bush, more Mrs Flood, and if we have to have a musical episode the not-Eurovision Song Contest is a good setting for it, and Rylan's a good choice for host. Would be nice if they acknowledged Big Finish's Bang-Bang-a-Boom (and took Mel along for the ride!), but that really is hoping for too much, I guess. And in a little context, the Purple Rose of Cairo / Last Action Hero inspired cartoon character looks a little sinister, too. Thumbs tentatively up. -- There’s no point in being grown up if you can’t act a little childish sometimes.
