There is one wacko theory (among many many wacko theories) that what we think is our lives is really a huge computer simulation being run by someone / something else ... which sounds like someone has been reading too much Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Supposedly what we see as 'deja vu' is actually the simulation being re-run or rewound for some reason. :-\
