Here is similar, state taxes are the big factor.  A couple of states 
with lower taxes seem to have their biggest liquor store near the state 
line though.

Going from MA to Maine on the highway, you pass a short section of New 
Hampshire, a no sales tax state. Yes, big liquor stores, on on the 
northbound side, another on the southbound side.
