That’s not why we split things up. Things are split into separate files because it’s logical to do so. Git’s merge function is good at figuring out multiple patches to the same file, and helping the person doing the merging sort out any merge conflicts. That was its main big advance on the VCSes that came before, and a big reason why it has come to dominate the VCS scene nowadays.
