So, NZ is now part of Peppol, the “Pan-European Public Procurement
Online interoperability framework”. This means businesses, both large
and small, can send each other “einvoices” via accredited services
(e.g. Xero, MYOB) with automatic recording of the necessary details
for tax purposes.

You can understand why getting away from email will be welcomed in
some quarters.
