The NFL sent the full rules report to its 32 teams this week and included is an addition to the unsportsmanlike conduct rule. In Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1(d) the NFL has made the "nose wipe" celebration illegal. The nose wipe is a gang sign associated with the Bloods, indicating someone is untrustworthy. Lamb has used the move as a celebration since he entered the league in 2020. Beginning next season, it will become a 15-yard penalty. The Pro Bowl receiver replied on social media Wednesday night, writing, "smh [shaking my head], i have plenty in mind" with an unamused face emoji. -------------------------------- Seems like this would never actually occur, since players have their helmets on and can't actually wipe their noses. They say it's banned because it's a violent gang sign, but even in the context of gang culture, it isn't a violent gesture. It's simply indicating someone is untrustworthy. This is my NextDoor/Ferengi ban all over again, isn't it? Doesn't matter whether it's violent or not. The NFL overlords don't like it so they just decree it to be violent. Since the rulebook now specifically says the "nose wipe" gesture is prohibited, I predict CeeDee is just going to raise his hand an inch or so higher so it becomes an "eye wipe" gesture instead and therefore not a violation of the rules.
