  A WhatsApp message is end-to-end encrypted, including any attachments,
media, etc.. So the sender and recipient can see the .eml file in the
clear, but no-one else can.

  BTW, of course my 'suggestion' was in jest.

  I think that's a general issue of one's Google Account storage. Is it
encrypted or not? I encrypt my Google Drive backup, but don't know about
the other parts, i.e. WhatsApp backup, Gmail, others.
