Nope. The British antiques expert / seller comes to the small French
village when her husband was murdered there, and after that mystery was
solved she decided to stay. There are a few other ex-pat British people
already living there, but none are retired.

Small UK village of Marlow where a retired archaeologist, a vicar's
wife, and a dog walker come together to solve murders, which grudging
approval of the police they are helping. Based on a series of books.

A young female police detective moves back to her home town and is
unofficially helped by her three aunts to solve mystery crimes. There
is also an on-going mystery surrounding her parents.

Ex-police detective turned cruise line entertainer solves mysteries
involving the ship's guests (on and off the boat) around the
Mediterranean, with the help of the ship's second in command.

A series of books that is being made into a trilogy of mini-series.
First one was "Magpie Murders", the second "Moonflower Murders", and
the up-coming third one is yet to get an official name. A book editor
solves crimes with the help of the fictional detective from her edited
books (she sees and talks to him).

A police detective goes missing and his twin brother (a newspaper
crossword setter) comes in to help the detective's wife find out what
happened, which he does by pretending to be his brother to go into the
police station and ends up having to solve other crimes while looking
for clues about his brother.

The son in Whistable Pearl is played by the same actor who plays Harry
Wild's sidekick, so it can get a bit confusing if you watch both shows
close toegether and aren't concetrating.

Basically a bit of a knock-off of the US series "Monk". A university
crime professor with obsessive compulsive disorder helps the police to
solve crimes, while also trying to cope with his over-protective mother
and the 'suicide' of his father that he witnessed as a child. The
series has been remade by a few European countries, the latest being
the British version starring Ben Miller (who was one of the Death in
Paradise detectives).

One 'm' in the middle: Midsomer. Some silly auto-correct 'features'
will change it to "midsummer" instead.

Possible spoilers, depending on what season's you have watched ...

He got divorced. Then the was with Sal (I can't remember if she was a
nurse or not nor if she was the reason for his divorce), who became
pregnant, they got engaged, then she lost the baby, and they split up.
In the new season he's starting a relationship with the police
pathologist Leanne.
