The idea is fine but the implementation seems somewhat flawed as things like combat just don't, IMHO, translate well to live action. An exception I do see is murder mystery style games where I think the idea of investigating something does translate. SCA I did have to look up as to me it means software communications architecture! I can see the appeal in that even though it's not my cup of tea. It's more I put it into the category of I find it difficult to really understand why they find it fun.
