Don't forget (or maybe it was so unbelivable it slipped
right out the other ear...) the burnt up corpse was not
only a police officer, but a detective.  And she had been
on the force just a year...

That just, well, doesn't happen in the normal course
of events.  By far...

(yeah, if you're the cop who shoots the person trying
to assassinate the mayor's mistress, then maybe, as
part of the reward for keeping quiet... you'll get
the gold shield the next week)
