I do regexps all the time. I appreciate the fact that the default setting for searches in Emacs (for both plain strings and regexps) is to be case- insensitive, unless the pattern/string includes a capital letter, in which case it becomes case-sensitive. Kind of a best-of-both-worlds-with-minimal-faffing-about. That usually works quite well.
