I always used Samba method to stream my medias from my Debian PC's Samba 
share with its login account on my local LAN (have to be sure I'm on the 
same network [not guest WAP and others']). I also copy my media files to 
my iPhones (6+ and 12 mini with their updated iOS versions)' VLC's iOS 
app from my updated 64-bit Windows (7 HPE SP1 & 10 Pro.)'s iTunes.
