I have good news for you! When I gave a grad engineering talk at TAMU in 2000, a solid half of the attendees were American, many Texan. The rest were mostly Indian. And this was a talk where attendance was optional. The free pizza may have had something to do with the full house but the questions were many, and well thought out. I was impressed indeed.
