Good grief, Tom! You were complaining about California's economy, not 
that of the entire U.S.

As Zen pointed out, California's _state_ economy has grown to surpass 
the _national_ economy of Japan. That's evidence that your economic 
whining is false.

California's economy was never the largest in the world. You're 
"thinking" (loosely speaking) of the U.S. as a whole, which is still #1. 
IOW you're confused yet again, confusing U.S. and California data.

Get help. Hire some teenager to explain things to you - things like 
economics, history, bike mechanics, computer use, spelling, etc. etc.
