It wasn't a private showing. The cinema chains sold tickets
directly to the public for Doctor Who, as they would any movie.
This is easily researched. The BBC did not sell tickets direct.

If any YouTube creator is telling you otherwise they are wrong.

Clearly that is not the case or the 28 day consolidated viewing
figures would not be higher than the overnights. So if the
episode ratings are creeping up over 7/14/28 days, people must
be watching Doctor Who on the iPlayer!

I know you like conspiracy theories but BARB are not adding
viewers to the Doctor Who ratings just to prove you wrong!

Says you.

Or, doing some research might prove you wrong?

Try again... do some more research

Publicity for Doctor Who, yes. Having the season finale shown in
the cinema was about boosting the show's public profile.

Then why were tickets advertised for sale by the various cinemas
chains then if the BBC paid for all the tickets?

Wrong again... cinemas always report their takings to someone or
how do movies get to know what their box office takings were?
Box office takings are a major metric for films.

Likewise, Doctor Who's takings were announced... so clearly you
need to pay a bit more attention.

Except it wasn't a private screening... as we have already
established.

BREAKING NEWS: Doctor Who is fictional drama, not a documentary.

My money is on, NOT!

You have been misinformed.

What cinema goer takes pictures of audiences in cinemas? Not
normal people anyway.

Trolling again I see...

Says Doctor Who "ended" but still watches it!

Wrong again... (Not that anybody is surprised by that at this
stage.)
