Il doit sans doute tester tout le disque, cf. l'option de mkfs.ext4 :

   -c   Check  the  device  for bad blocks before creating the file system.
    	If this option is specified twice, then a slower read-write test
	is used instead of a fast read-only test.

autant le laisser finir.


Tu pourras aussi regarder les résultats de la commande

 root #  smartctl --all /dev/sda

si ton HDD est bien en sda (le SSD peut se cacher sous /dev/nvme0n1)

À ta place, je partitionnerais un peu :
 1 très petite partition fat16 ou 32 pour un boot EFI de secours ;
 2 un Swap de 16 Go (au début s'il sert, à  la fin pour aucazoù) ;
 3 la grosse partition...

N.B. On peut agrandir ou rétrécir une partition formattée sans la
vider, mais pas déplacer son point de départ : tu pourrais donc créer
une partition de 3To, en laissant le dernier téra du disque en friche
pour l'instant.


Le résultat de la commande

peut parmettre d'affiner, ainsi que

df -HT
