'On' est la préposition usuelle pour situer quelque chose sur les rives 
d'un fleuve : on Merseyside, on Clydeside, on Speyside, on Tyneside....

'In', par contre, s'emploie pour une région géographique ou division 
administrative : in the North, in Dorset, in Avon, in Manchester....
