Depuis une ou deux décennies, les thermomètres à mercure ont été 
remplacés par des sondes à résistance de platine (Pt100) beaucoup moins 
inertes télé-relevées toutes les quelques minutes. Elles captent 
beaucoup mieux les maxima que les thermomètres au mercure dont l'inertie 
est plus élevée.
