En anglais aussi (on TV, on the TV), mais jamais "on the TV set" (poste).

Je me méfie aussi parce que les anglophones disent "IN the picture" 
(dans la photo) lorsque les francophones disent "SUR la photo" (ON the 
picture).

Quoi qu'il en soit, c'est une tournure intéressante.
