Combien de mots français disparaissent vraiment ? 'Parking' n'a pas 
supprimé 'stationnement', par exemple :

Normalement, quand deux mots sont synonymes, ils acquièrent de nouvelles 
nuances pour se distinguer l'un de l'autre. C'est ce qui s'est passé en 
anglais lors de la collision entre le normand et l'anglo-saxon - 
swine-pork, chicken-pullet, brotherly-fraternel, fair-blond, 
ghost-phantom....

C'est comme ça que l'anglo-saxon s'est enrichi, a acquis un vocabulaire 
sans pareil - qui facilite concision et précision.
