La MT09 a bonne réputation, contrairement à son ancêtre la 750 XS, trois 
pattes quatre temps à transmission à cardan... Rigide mais lourde (255 
kg), c'était plus une GT qu'une sportive, mais son moteur était fragile. 
Le passage à 850 cm3 et surtout une nette amélioration du circuit 
d'huile (carter plus gros et surtout radiateur) ont fiabilisé le moteur 
mais hélas la réputation était faite...
