If you want to keep old messages, copy them to a folder on _your_ computer. Server problems and closures will not bother you anymore. And make a backup to an external disk to be doubly sure. I still have messages from 2014 here. P.S. I don't read NSR, but this discussion is more relevant to that NG. So I don't set a follow-up, because I'd like to read the continuation.
