It's just an adjustment for > gravity. In order to adjust for gravity you need to know how much adjustment is needed. General Relativity can tell you how much. The same for adjustment for motion. If smothing simpler gives the same accurately enough it may be better but "accurately enough" varies depending on the purpose. -- Mikko
