Fleming's plot from the Goldfinger novel > wasn't used. The novel's scheme by Goldfinger was poorly thought out. "Do you expect me to talk?" "No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die." Last month I played lead trumpet in an orchestra concert of famous songs from film and one of the pieces on the menu was GOLDFINGER. They hired a woman who did a pretty good impression of Shirley Bassey. I was just stoked to be able to do the musical equivalent of an actor chewing the scenery with the trumpet part. You don't often get to combine falling glisses and wah-wah mutes in such an over-the-top way. In any other piece, the conductor would be like, "We need less of that." In this one, it's "More. No, even more." The first four bars are the best: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6D1nK7q2i8I
