I never warmed up to WPF and xaml and used Winforms for any GUIs I had to do. Microsoft would dearly love to kill Winforms but there is too much popular support. However ASP.NET which is the back end server part is much cleaner in C#. Some of the bad taste for C++ involves WCF which is a huge, sprawling pile of SOAP crap.
