Where does that odd sounding name come from? Well, there happens to be a species of penguin called the "gentoo" penguin that is the fastest swimmer of all the penguins: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gentoo_penguin Thus, the name "Gentoo" is quite apt for a distro that is undeniably the fastest of all GNU/Linux distros. Why do an injustice to your expensive computer hardware by saddling it with a sluggish generic distro? Get Gentoo and live life to the fullest. -- Systemd: solving all the problems that you never knew you had.
