"Pronoun" it this sense, is not literal, rather it is being used here as a slur or slang put-down term for a someone who considers themselves as being a nonbinary, transgender or a hundred other gender related termed person. The nonbinary person depicted is (I presume) the couple's child, who has contracted rubella and is so ill as to be hospitalized. It appears that they would rather purchase over-priced eggs than have anything more to do with their own child. i.e.; they hate "Pronouns". I find it's sad, on the depressing side of the world we inhabit, and not very funny. Anyway, the "Pronoun" being used here is simply a derogitive term for a particular type of person. Someone who refers to themselves as Xe/Xem, they/them, etc. -- dee
