To further complicate it, Arabs are a small minority in Iran and frequently persecuted. Iran inherited what was called Arabistan from the Ottoman Empire and it's been a thorn in their side. The Persians are an Indo-European people, or what was called Aryan before some unfortunate 20th century events. They don't like Arabs, who are a Semitic people. It's like one of those logic statements. Most Arabs are Moslems but most Moslems aren't Arabs. The Arabs seem to be the least civilized.
