I've done that for years. Part of my responsibilities as a plant
engineer were reducing plant noise levels. This was when OSHA
regulations were new, with new limits on in-plant decibel levels. That
made me very aware of hearing damage due to noise. But I don't even like
the effect of mower noise on neighbors.

As I mentioned earlier, I don't think that's practical due to the large
number of "islands" of landscaping, among other things.
I think I need to find someone with a battery electric mower that's,
say, five years old or more to see what their experience is like. In
online forums I've seen complaints about full-charge range decreasing
pretty quickly, and some complaints about needing batteries replaced as
soon as three years.
BTW, the Kia EV, OTOH, reputedly suffers less than one percent drop in
range per year, according to diagnostic tests that people have run. I've
not noticed any drop at all, so far. It turns three years old in a
couple days.
