Agreed. In 2019, I was asked to help write or edit a technical book. In the past, I edited one SCO Unix books and this seemed like more of the same. When I received my instructions, the first step was to install and familiarize myself with how Git works. They were using Git for organizing a book, which might have a dozen authors and possibly a similar number of editors.
