Sleep deprivation can cause hallucinations, but YMMV on what is experienced, Years ago, I pushed the sleep deprivation "envelope," and when I finally hit the sack, I went to bed for 24 hours, then another 12 hours after getting something to eat. It took me about a month to get back to normal.
