Nakba is the Arabic word for "catastrophe". It's the name they give to
when Israel emerged as an independent nation.

The Peel District School Board, which controls most of the schools in
Toronto's western suburbs, commemorates Nakba Day and the provincial
Minister of Education wants it to stop:

The minister is getting pushback from the Peel board and the Muslim
parents it represents.

I don't know if the Education Minister has the power to force the
school board to stop commemorating Nakba Day. It's going to be
interesting to see how this plays out.
