Oui.

Je ne crois pas que cela soit la formule d'un natif anglophone.

Par contre, ce -ing rappelle l'imparfait utilisé dans une narration :

I was kicking around a hacky sack. That's all I did.

se dirait tout naturellement, et correctement.

Donc, j'en comprends le sens, même si la formulation ne nous semble pas 
correcte.
