C'est mauvais. Quand on lit la fin de la phrase, il faut réviser sa 
compréhension de la première partie. C'est une 'garden-path sentence'.

Oui, c'est meilleur, plus clair, mais pas idéal. On pourrait l'écrire en 
deux phrases :

Nancy had allegedly grabbed a woman by the throat. The 
woman/latter/victim/... had insulted Nancy's husband at Newark Airport.

Aucune obligation, mais si c'est trop éloigné, le sens devient obscur.
